Bequests

Your gift to future generations: Making a bequest to EDO(SA) Inc.

Increasingly, governments and the broader community recognise the importance of water conservation and allocation, dealing with climate change, protecting biodiversity, retention of our natural and cultural heritage, the sustainability of indigenous and rural communities and other issues associated with the natural environment. Yet, despite the growing body of evidence about the need to protect the environment, public policy and development decisions often treat environmental impacts as secondary priorities.

The services we provide are important because:

  • We help communities understand their rights and responsibilities; and
  • We ensure policy makers understand the impacts of their decisions on the natural and built environment.

With our services, communities are informed about and involved in decisions and processes that affect the wellbeing of current and future generations.

Empowering our community and protecting our environmental future are vital for a vibrant SA community – please consider making a bequest to the Environmental Defenders Office.

Including the EDO(SA) Inc. in your Will

Making a Will means that you can decide how your legacy will be distributed. You should take care in making your Will that it is worded precisely, that it accurately reflects your wishes, and that it is a legally valid document. It is a good idea to consult with your solicitor in drawing up or amending you Will.

We strongly recommend that you discuss any bequests with your family or other beneficiaries so that they are aware of and understand your wishes.

You may choose to include EDO(SA) Inc. in your Will for either an asset or specific amount of money, or by bequeathing the remainder or residue (or any proportion of the remainder) of your estate after you have made other specified bequests.

You may wish to use the following wording as a guide as to what to include in your Will:

"I bequeath to the Environmental Defenders Office (SA) Inc. (a specified sum), or (specified items), or (the residue of my estate) free of all duties, and the receipt of the Treasurer or other authorised officer, for the time being, of the Environmental Defenders Office (SA) Inc. shall be a complete and sufficient discharge for the executor(s)".

All donations are tax deductible.

Please let us know if you decide to include EDO(SA) Inc. in your Will. We would like to be able to personally thank you and see if you would like to become more involved with us or learn more about our work.
